Have a cigar and answer me a question.

How many opponauts have a) subscribed or b) retained their subscription past the trial that comes with the their vehicle?

My year long freebie ends tomorrow and I am on the fence about enticing myself into actually paying for the service. Its brilliant for those all too often ten hour road trips into other zones, but in the city, does it really serve a purpose in the place of a well stocked iPod, internet radio and an aux jack, or my personal favourite: road noise.

So you did that thing where you call them and pretend that you want to cancel, so they give you an extra year free?

It is in every single vehicle in the garage at the moment. Personally I don't use the radio all too much because like you said aux jack kicks the crap out of the usual stuff. If you are on the fence about it then don't renew it and see how it goes, if you feel like something is missing it is just a simple renewal of your membership.

I renewed on one car, primarily because there were one or two stations I found myself listening to pretty regularly. I dropped the XM traffic service because I didn't find it useful.

I'd say if you don't find yourself using it frequently day-to-day, it's probably not worth it just for the occasional road trip, especially compared to the well stocked iPod, etc.

one of my very favorite Floyd tracks, but in what world is 'have a cigar, a "deep track"? I find myself asking that question a lot when listening to that station.

Each of my parents' new cars came with xm subscriptions and they've both kept it as part of the traffic data subscriptions, but I think I'd have ditched it personally if it weren't for it being bundled with traffic data. It's great for the first several months, but after a while it just becomes a lot like top 40 radio, just genre specific. And the compression they use really degrades the sound quality, noticeably over a good hd or even regular fm radio signal.

A six month subscription came with my mom's Vue when we bought it, never even used it.

If you use it regularly, might as well renew it. Unless it's stupidly expensive then just get an Aux cable and use Pandora.

No thanks, I already had one a little while ago.

I have had Sirius off and on for the last ten years. I love having the NFL games. My experience is that if you let the subscription lapse, they send you many offers that are great deals. They would send me "6 months for $25" often, and I've taken them up on it more than once. They're sending it to my partner now because his Juke's trial subscription lapsed, but he doesn't want it back because he barely used it and isn't in the car enough.

I bought a Sirius system for my old car. Still have it. Still listen to it.

once you use Sirius, there really is no going back! You will be so annoyed by commericals!

Do you have any friends who use it?

I dont have it built in my Civic so what I do is piggyback off my dads account. I use the mobile streaming for$3 month and play over bluetooth.

ANOTHER TIP! If you can, wait a few weeks. They will send you a great deal like $25 for 5 or 6 months! That's what my dad does

I never had a free trial yet still keep it. I listen to the NFL radio ALL the time. And I find the traffic handier and more accurate than my local AM channel.

When I had a car that was SiriusXM equipped I definitely retained the service. I was taking two 1100 mile road trips per year and being able to listen to the british people talking about Africa on the BBC because I was bored or crazy EDM to keep me awake no matter where I was was really nice. In town I would switch back and forth between the radio and ssatellite, but I loved having it.
